Sorry I am British, I was born just outside Manchester. As for actively working, well I no longer work with the marine environment at this time, although I get involved with difficult projects from time to time in the offshore industry. These days I produce childrens clothes for the US market. A bit of a difference from my previous work in the Oil and Gas Field, Salvage, Marine Construction, Fish factory and a few other as well. I have had this love affair with the sea since a child, well in reality I guess I still am a child with this maritime obsession.
I still have many years left I hope I am only 52, so I keep working on my own research for my own pleasure.

I like the way you stated it: "Only 52". I'm "only 45" and just getting into the world of looking for sunken ships as a hobby, more for the historical aspects than for profit (see the post LCM MK1). I still work on ships daily and love the sea as well. Even though my body is telling me to slow down a bit, still out-performing some of the 25-30 year olds on the project here. I am amazed at the amount of knowledge that you have concerning just about every topic posted here. My question pertains to how do you go about gaining access to all of the databases that you seem to have access too? I'm stuck in Egypt for the foreseeable future and have to rely on the Internet for almost everything concerning research on ships, shipwrecks, et al., and therefore cannot go to a library or archival institute to look up information. Share some research websites possibly?
As for being from Manchester.....Man U leaves a lot to be desired (That's all I know about Manchester). Arsenal is good......but then again, I don't like football (Especially American football). Favorite teams are Ahli (Egypt), and anyone that plays against Bolten (where an Ex lives). But all of the football stuff is better suited for a different forum.

It is not that I know more than anyone else, the info is there you just have to have the Patience to search. Searching from different angles to get better results.
The web is limited though and eventually you will end up in a library or museum or a university to find things.
For instance your landing craft is not as easy as people may think to search, but my guess is that you have searched so many sites now you have if fact become a bit if an expert on the subject. So tenacity and Patience, and if you are locked out of a site through the front door by proxy, go in through the window by free proxy. Check the post about El Salvador today I posted there a good simple way around the proxy servers.
