I'm brand new to metal detecting, just bought a friend's Garrett 250 a few days ago. So far I've just practiced in my backyard, and found this clamp today. Just curious if anyone has any idea of how old this may be. My house was built in 1995, and this was intertwined in some tree roots next to the house. It's a C-clamp of some kind but I don't know if it is a specific type. I know it's not exciting or super-historical, but it was pretty cool to find in my yard. I see an object but need more pictures like top side bottom...

mojjax is the winner. It is a clamp used for clamping solid copper wire to a grounding rod. Every house has one of these on it - or at least they're supposed to! Go out to your power pole and trace a bare copper wire to the ground. You'll see this clamp somewhere in that range. If no power pole, then look under the meter. Some areas also have Building Codes that require them on the primary breaker panel for the house as well.

You can find them new in any hardware store in the electrical department.
