buttons...help

A good friend of mine found these buttons in New Jersey years ago and asked me to post some pics here.
Hopefully someone can tell us what kind of buttons they are and who would have worn them.'

I am thinking the CS means confederate states, but is it an officer of just enlisted or other.

They sure look the part , is that a snake below the eagle ? Ive looked on a few CS button web sites out of interest and see nothing quite like those.There are very many varients though.

taz42o is right it is a Engineers button,
but what is the backmark on the button and someone can put a date with it.
The first button is a very nice looking button,but I can't find it anywhere.What is the backmark on it.
But I like it! :thumbsup:

I do not know if there is a connection but a wreath and three stars was a confederate generals collar insignia.
you can see it on this pic of stonewall Jackson. Too bad you cant see the buttons in this pic.

The bench mark on the back of the engineers button is...
Lewis & Tomes extra rich...if that helps

I would say that would put it at around 1820-1832,by the list that of backmarks.
