Got the new 6" coil in today for the 800 and decided to try it out in the old sharecropper site. First find was a dang horseshoe. Feeling like my luck had run out I dug a few deep nails and then another dang horseshoe. Decided to call it a day and as I was leaving got a tight 37 signal and decided what the heck. Dug about a 4" plug out of the hole(roots) and went back over the hole expecting the signal to drop drastically. To my surprise it was dead on 37. Removed one more scoop and went back over the hole and no signal. Went over my pile and still a steady 37. Got the pinpointer out and made one swipe in the pile and out fell a beautiful 2 piece button with an eagle on it. Couldn't really make out much at first but my heart just about jumped out my chest. I gave thanks to man up stairs as this is my first real button. I know it is from WW1 period but I felt like I hit the dang lottery. This is what it's all about for me. Not knowing what the next hole holds. Thanks for looking and good luck out there!

That's a nice button! I like those great seals!

That's a great looking button, congratulations on the save and on your first, you did well with that one. HH

Cool button, dates between 1901-1910. Can you tell us what the backmark reads?

Congrats on your first button, and a nice one at that. That is a great seal military button.

Love me some eagle buttons! Nice score :occasion14:

Congrats on the great shape button! :occasion14:

Sigmund Eisner Red Bank.

Eisner began making uniforms in 1898 and his backmark is on many "Great Seal" buttons c.1902-1935. The Great Seal button replaced the eagle button in 1901. Your version was made between 1901 and 1910. In 1911 a rim was added and that style is still in use. A whole lot more post 1911 buttons are found than the 1901-1910 version so you have a nice find.

Those smaller coils are great tools to find things you might have missed Great job and post
