Please help with ID on this button. Non magnetic except for the center post. Cannot make out any markings on it. Thanks!

It does look like a Revolutionary War period pewter button. Nice find.

The grey color and edge flaking are indications of pewter. Rust could merely have been there because it was next to a rusty item.
