Here's a button dug the other day. The best that I can make out is that the front reads "Porter Military Academy" "Cadet". The back reads "Jacobs" "Charleston S.C.. I may be wrong on the city.

Thank you Darod, Thank you Buckram. Apparently it is post Civil War since the school was founded shortly after the war.
