This button is metal not sure what kind
It has cross cannons on it
It is as big as a quarter
It has an capital A on it
It was found in Oswego New York by the fort

Those are collar discs. I don't know my post civil war insignia so I don't know the date, but someone will come along to help.

Your find is a US Army Coast Artillery collar-disc insignia. Because the background around the emblem is diamonds with a tiny acorn inside each diamond, your disc dates from 1926 through 1937. Go to the Collar-Disc Insignia webpage linked below and scroll down to "Type 2 Discs."
