this ain't 1700s that's for sure.
1950s?...no idea,nothing at this site dates beyond early to mid 1800s...maybe a hunter later on lost a button?...no id on name yet and have double checked spelling.were buttons like that used in the 50's

It may be a suspender or underwear button. I have seen them made like that. They can date back to the mid 1800s. Here is one link to a button similar to yours.
