Found a button at a colonial site in Connecticut. On the button there is a 3 with small stars around it. I believe it to be pewter. I placed a quarter next to it to show the size. Any idea?

Not got the books but this will be a good one, I can tell.

But you must provide pictures of the reverse?

Unsure of your post but I believe you asked for a pic of the back. Attached is such and another front pic

Very cool is right. Thank you.

The button is grey. Is that the way brass turns out after so many years in the ground?

Makes sense, as I now see no mould line on the reverse, but the colour sure made me think pewter!

I am sure that is a good button however, I can't find one in Albert's button book with that style 3 on it. Perhaps Issac could post a picture of the one he is talking about or the reference he got it from.

First off thank you for the kudos. Appreciate the help. I have hit the "mother load of sites" and have many different items.

I did some research and take it for what it is worth. The second, third, and forth regiment was activated in 1814 and deactivated in 1815. From there they were incorporated into the other regiments. All of the regiments were deactivated in 1821.

My friend sent me this pic and not sure it's source. My pics have been twisted, not sure why and sorry for that.
Have a good night and thanks again
