Went back to the site me and Hogge did yesterday and still only finding buttons. Did some more scouting of the area and may have another place to hit. Problem is its a hell hike and I don't really want to do it again. Hard to believe the only coin out of this place was an 1805 dime. Thanks for looking

Regardless you certainly are finding a lot of nice buttons there! :icon_thumright: What did Todd find yesterday?

Unfortunately just a few buttons. I felt bad because I thought we would do really well. Site looked very promising. I mean 1805 dime within a half hour of hunting. I had actually stopped so Todd and I would have more finds. I guess you never know with this hobby. Still great to be outside on a beautiful day swinging the detector.

You've certainly turned up enough buttons so far for a coin to pop out. In my experience the ratio tends to be about 10-15 buttons to 1 coin..... at least on the sites that seemed to be untouched.

I won't give up on it. There has to be more than buttons. The hike is long and I've made it too many times this week. Might just have to pack my tent and spend a few days. Don't get me wrong I'm not complaining. I love buttons just as much as the next guy. Just finding it odd that's all I'm finding.

This is where I found the dime a few days ago. So it's already produced. Just need to find where the other ones are

If I was going to find one just one coin from a site, an 1805 dime would be the last thing I would expect. But if you're still finding that many buttons, there could easily be a half real or copper lurking in there somewhere....

BTW, I like the British made flat button with the eagle on the back.

Can't wait to get out again. That's alot of buttons! I think that the middle site holds tons more!! That one isn't so far to get to. I'll have to get in touch with you as, work permits. Take your time with the peroxide thing. As you do it more and more, you will see what the limitations are. Are you going to post the Machins? I'll DEFINITELY call ya Tom. GOOD LUCK!!!! Todd

Posted it under button day

Some more nice digs Greylock! Those long hikes in just means that you will have less compitition :icon_thumleft:

Keep it up! There could be another Draped Bust Dime or even Quarter somewhere out there.
