The button is a World War One era US Army button showing the "Great Seal of the United States" -- so it is commonly called a Great Seal button. The Great Seal was first adopted for use on US Army buttons in 1902. I'm saying WW1 era because your button appears to have bits of "black finish" remaining on its brass front, which was applied by Army Regulations as a form of camouflage on these buttons at that time-period until 1923. But maybe the black is just an illusion caused by the low-quality photos. Please tell us whether the black finish is actually "there" or not.

I don't know much about any of the lost class ring web sites. first one that comes to mind is classringfinder.com I don't know if they charge a fee or not, and would suspect chances of it being listed on any site to be slim at best. One avenue some finders take is to contact the school principal or registrar, who will sometimes be helpful in seeing the ring returned.

If you know the school name and the initials of the owner, why not contact the school direct.

Last one I found, I just called the school. If it is local, go to the library. Tony

If you can locate a yearbook, you can find your guy. I can't tell by the picture if the school is near you, but if so, a yearbook wouldn't be that hard to find. You can also Google class reunions, etc. for a clue. I have only found one and used the yearbook for identification.

Yearbook great idea thin ring says 1973 on it so Ill give it my best try. I kinda wish it was just a gold ring. My conscious would bug me if I didn't try to find the owner

School library has the year books...contact the librarian, or
Contact can be made through the reunion committee or school alumni board....look it up on the web
the school might also have a FB page for that year grads.
Good Luck,SS
