✅ SOLVED Button? Pin? Cufflink? Other?

I found this on an 1800's homesite. On the back it looks like it once had a shank. You can't really tell from the photo but the back has remnants of what appears to be gold gilding. No gilding remains on the front. There's no backmark. Any ideas?

Due to:
1- its size,
2- very ornamental front,
3- the raised rim around its back,
4- stub of a "shank" on its back,
5- being oval-shaped,
I believe it is a cufflink.

CB is 100% correct. This is a victorian era to early 20th century cufflink missing the shank and clasp. With the design, I would say most likely victorian era
