Button or something?

Hello, went detecting today at Civil War site. Found numerous CW bullets on this site over the past year. Found the thing pictured below and at first thought it was a large cent that the farm field wasn't nice to over time. Got home rinsed it off with water and saw crosses around the edge. On the other side there a crosses in no particular order and nothing that appeared to be the shank to the button. It definitely appears to be copper. Any help would be appreciated.
