I dug this button in a place where a Texian army camped or crossed. Cleaned it by rubbing it with a cloth. It is one piece, cast brass, if I'm describing that right. The front has a blister on it that cracked. There is no writing of any kind front or back. The shank has no signs of solder, but appears to be one with the rest of the button, except there are two round indentions on each end of the shank. Is this how it was inserted into the button? or marks left from a mold? I am new to this and don't know about the methods used to construct these. In the area nearby there were reenactments done two or three decades ago. Does this look to be a modern reproduction, or something possibly from an early Texas soldier? Thanks.
