Here is one like it - a GAR Veteran piece:

Dilly Dally Vintage by DillyDallyVintage on Etsy

Very neat find! This is either a cuff link or some type of button, I'm really not positive. I'm leaning more towards a cuff link because there is an image on both sides. On the front it shows two men shaking hands with one man standing behind them. In the foreground is a woman kneeling with her child. Around the outer edge of the circle are the words "Grand Army of the Republic/1861 Veteran 1866". On the back is a scene of a pot hanging on a spit over a fire. The cuff link was patented on May 22, 1894. Not sure of the material, it looks like aged copper. Great little piece to add to your Civil War memorabilia collection!

appreciate the willingness of the people on treasurenet to share their knowledge with the rest of us. Here is a photo of the back. Any suggestions for cleaning.
thanks RJ, CJ
