Hello everyone. I found this button and I have been searching the internet for other examples like it but haven't had any luck. Would anyone be able to provide an information to help me?
Looks like a civilian button that was once silver plated (as evidence by the backmark), from the early-mid 1800s. There are MANY combinations of backmarks that designated button quality, i.e. gilt, plated, extra rich treble orange colour etc. etc.....A fairly common find at older sites, and good evidence that there may be some other finds nearby!
