Button identification help

I found this button while searching for Indian artifacts.

It's a civilian one-piece button, made of either pewter or brass (can't tell from the picture). From the 1700s; it had silver plating or gold gilt on it at one time; you can see a little bit of it still. Nice find! There is probably a colonial era home site close by.
