Button ID

[MXT Man]

I found this button the other day and can't ID it. I know there is very little detail but maybe enough for some of you button collectors to know what it is. It was found in Chesterfield IN next to a house that was a stagecoach stop in the 1800 time period. If anyone can be of help I would appreciate it. The button is about 3/4 inch wide.

It looks like a "muffin-style" button... I'd guess it's either a State Seal or General Staff button.

Have you tried Aluminum Jelly on it yet? Most of this style was gilded, and it might turn out nicely. Can you see a backmark on it?
