Looks British - cica 1890 - 1900s

This is a British Navy officer's button that was used from early 1800s till early 1900 i do not no what specific officer it is aka if it is a captain or lieutenant...etc but i intend to find out i will post more about it when i do

Well if this is a British Navy Button it is a first for me and to think I found it up in a cove in Northeast Alabama. A long way from any water. Maybe he was just traveling through?? Please keep me posted. Thanks

I dont think it's a military button... although it resembles many British Navy buttons the elements are not correct compared to what I've been seeing.

If it IS one, please show a comparable reference or button that is the same with a steal back.

I think jims right alabear,Most of the very old navy buttons are all 1 piece solid cast brass..And in the civil war era 2 piece ,still made well and hold up good in the ground..That steal back is a dead giveaway, for it not being very old..Still a nice find ,but only about 50 yrs old.. The pics are what to look for in the old style..Goodluck
