Button ID

Any ideas?

Found about 3.5 inches down where an 1800s house used to stand. It is just under half dollar size and the back has America or American on it and New York or Newark. The front has an eagle with a round thing surrounded by stars above it and a shield on its chest.

Any help would be appreciated.

AMERICAN BUTTON CO. 1901-1920 It looks like the Great Seal of the US button. Probably from WWI. Very Cool!!
