I found a button yesterday in central Virginia with my AT Pro its about dime sized and good shank back mark is RICH GOLD COLOUR its a 1 piece flower pattern button but is it civilian or military? Also what time period was it from? It was dug out in really bad soil so bare the condition and quality im sure this button was covered in gilt at one time. Thank you all.

Civilian. The design and wording are typical of buttons from the "golden age" of gilt buttons, 1820's-1850 or so. Similar ones in this search: "golden age" gilt buttons - Google Search
And the spelling of "colour" indicates British manufacture.
I wouldn't be surprised if someone here can narrow that date range some.

As my friend Nhbenz mentioned, the word "color" in your button's backmark is spelled the British way (colour), which strongly indicates it was manufactured in Britain. One-piece brass buttons with a raised-lettering backmark (like yours) date from approximately 1790 on into the 1830s, when 1-piece buttons fell out of public favor due to the advent of machine-made INEXPENSIVE ornate/fancy 2-piece buttons. The War Of 1812 cut off importation of British buttons into the US, of course... and after the war ended (1815) British-made products were unpopular with the American public for at least ten years after the war's end. So, I think the odds favor your button having been made and imported into the US prior to the War Of 1812. But there's still a chance it is from the late-1820s/early-1830s.

You need to have the military button guys look at that last one. I think you have something pretty good. :)

Other things in that last pic; 2 farm harness buckles. maybe a piece of shoe buckle if it is brass? Oil lamp wickholder might have a name or patent date on the knob

first pic with BIC, one real nice heavy silver plate flatbutton, and other early flats from 1700s. I don't know what the bent brass thing is
