Button ID

Still curious about yesterday's find. Can anyone ID this button for me? It's almost .75" in diameter, has a tin back with a square type hole - no visible markings. The face appears to be brass.

Has all the right stuff to be a work clothes / overall button, but I don't see one like it listed. May well be imported.

Makes a lot of sense to me . . . thanks creskol. I wonder how old it is - the site is quite interesting with American Revolution, War of 1812, Civil War, and WWII history.
