Today my grandfather gave me a button he found while metal detecting on his property about 30 years ago...
from what I can see it says ANDREAS 50FER 1809

any ideas?

wow thanks for the quick reply pbk... but I don't understand who it would have come from? especially here in Ontario Canada. Seems really odd to me.

I'm taking it to my antique dealer tomarrow... he seems to know alot about this stuff, and i've gotten his help before on things like this.
I'll let you guys know if I find out anything... and please let me know if you come across anything that could help me ;D

Thanks

Since the lettering on yours is lacking the bead and the words and date are running off the edge do you think that perhaps it was filed or then again maybe a manufacturing error if the slug was smaller when stamped.

Just a thought.

Sent pictures with as much info as I could to Christie's appraisals. It's free and I'm sure its not worth anything but I'm curious and want to make sure. 4-6 weeks for a reply, ugh :-\
