These were exported to the States by the British and were used during the first quarter of the 19th Century.
Backmarks bearing terms Treble Rich, Treble Gilt, etc are trademark or stock backmarks denoting quality. Most originated in England, and may have also been used to disguise the actual source in the southern smuggling trade

It's just your standard early 1800s flat button but that is a neat backmark. Never seen it in a triangle like that.

as backmarks go, its a more interesting one, never seen it either, & we are already over 650 buttons this year.
