button ID

Hi, I found this button yesterday,which I believe is actually a cufflink. It measures just under 3/4 inch. I cant read the writng on it and am afraid to clean it any more than I already did. Does anyone reckonize the symbol on there which I believe is a hammer and two crossed guns or arrows? Thanks.

I think you have the top picture upside down, Its a south carolina citadel cadet button and depending on the back mark, it could be worth a purty penny try to see if the backmark is: "HORSTMANN & ALLIEN / NY"

You have posted nothing for scale. Please post a photo of the back so that we can read the backmark for identification of your find.

I found some like it online in much better shape than mine, it is an 18 mm SC Citadel Cadet cufflink like said earlier. I believe it's worth about $150, does that sound about right? How should I store it? Thanks

I would use a little aluminum jelly to clean it to see if there is any gold gilt left.
