Found this button about 2 yrs ago at a 1700s house site in North Carolina. It was around 6" down it's a two piece button the part with the shank disintegrated when I picked it up I think it's made of brass and looked like it had some gold plating on it at one time I've looked and can't find another one like it thought maybe somebody out there could help me with it what kind it might be and the age thanks IMG_20171113_170039440_HDR.webpIMG_20171113_170127138_HDR.webp

What does the back look like?

It's just opened hollow

While I can't find one of that design on a quick Google search, it is very suggestive of a the more modern fashion/blazer buttons that we see posted here often.

I also think it's a blazer button. The design is too crisp for pre Civil War.
