As with the whatsits just posted, this was found in a doggie-potty park in a pretty well off neighborhood but it was way outside town in the 1700s.
Any idea of the ID of the button? Civilian? Military? (Does look like castle ramparts above the shield.) Age? The lefthand blob in the batch of three pieces of rust on the right is the eye that was on it when I dug it. Stayed on fine in the container but fell right off when I put this under running water. It would have been a two piece button of some sort. Also forgot to measure this too but would guess is about the size of a nickel.
