I found this button and other items this morning in area I have found colonial items this year. Wanted to identify before I cleaned. Sweet button! I would be careful how much I cleaned it. Maybe use a tooth pick and a soft brush. Nice find.

Look up georgewashingtonbuttons.org I believe the guys name is Robert Silverstien from new windsor ny he has the largest collection of buttons and the most knowledge. He can tell just by looking. He is the best by far. When you reach out to him tell him brother nick from West Point sent you.

Looks like a Confederate Infantry !

It is a Confederate "Script I" button, used by the Confederate Infantry. I don't see a backmark, so it is probably one made "locally" down south. A very nice looking button any day of the week. Congrats!

Thanks for the replies it did have a backmark it’s a S Isaacs Campbell & Co/London.
I was very surprised to find it in my colonial spot. However I have found Virginia buttons on the same farm.
