went back to the farm field that has been giving up some good stuff from the early 1700's through the 1870's
i dug my first silver button but without any marks i am having trouble dating it
it looks like it maybe a hussars button or a dragoon officers button?
it is almost a half inch long and round
the metal is 800 silver and hollow
any button experts want to chime in?

Non military but unlike the usual ball buttons from well into the 1800s I think that blowhole one dates 1700s. Maybe 1760s or 70s.... see what others think. Not a very common type find and why you are having a hard time dating it.. but probably some online somewhere. Maybe on the UK detecting data base.

I actually have dug Dragoons officer ball button.... single hole, and it dates later than what I am guessing for your button.

doing a little more research show that we had the 16TH (queens) light Dragoons just a few miles from were this was found
in the 1750's
