Dug a pretty little button face but I cannot ID the image on it. Any ideas? 2C603B1A-8D7D-4F71-A428-B2AA1FA26126.jpeg79077C00-6F41-4333-AF93-9C1CFA542845.jpegEAFE0B2B-0312-4343-88F9-5D5DFE391FF2.jpeg

Interesting. Looks like a blazer button. Can we see the back?

If I dig it up I will let you know! It appears to be the front of a 2 piece button. The back of this piece has the rim intact and just a reversed image from stamping.

There are many fine details such as stars and possibly numbers or symbols that I can’t make out, and did not show too well in the pics.

SmokeyTheCat is correct, it is the brass front of a blazer/fashion button, missing its iron/steel back. I recognize the emblem... it is the fashion button version of the emblem of the French Republic. It's another example of fashion button makers producing a crude-ish imitation of an actual Coat-of-Arms emblem to make the button look "fancy." See the photos below.

Amazing info CannonBallGuy! Thank you. You as well, Smokeythecat. Would it be later 1800’s? House dates to 1841

You're welcome. Sorry, but no, the Fashion button front you found is from the 20 Century. The photos I posted showing that version (in perfect non-dug condition) are from an internet advertisement by somebody selling them.

Lol! Ok cool. I was hopeful! I found a 1899 v nickel like 2 feet away from the button!
