About the size of a dime, still trying to figure out the words on the banner - seems to be latin. Still has loop on back - found about 8" deep in North Alabama. I'll add the words when/if I can figure them out, my eyes aren't what they used to be :BangHead:

Thanks Ken 8-) . Here is a somewhat better image, sharpened and greyscaled. Seems to have the word "sanspeus" whatever that means on the right side. EDIT: The word seems to be "sanspeur" - meaning without fear (well, according to my Google search) :)

The rusted back and shank type would point to the mid20th century IMO.

At first glance I thought it was a wild boar but it looks more like a fish head and kangaroo? Civilian fashion button my guess but a cool one I havent seen before..

Maybe it is a boar but its looking like some kind of serpent creature with tongue protruding.

"Ne Obliviscaris" Do Not Forget "Sans Peur" Without Fear

I agree with BCH. Based on the back it is a modern blazer button.
