Button I.D's?

I had just previously posted a ring to be ID'd and would also like some help with these buttons.
1) The flat button has no identifiable front but the back has ---ity london
2) The very tiny cuff button? has 7 stars on the front and no identifiable letters on the back
3) the flower button backmark has jones & co extra on the back
4) I do know that this button is a South Carolina Palmetto state Seal Button but from what I do not know? Backmark is not identifiable.

I am looking for an I.D as far as what they belonged to uniform, civiallian, Confederate, Revolutionary etc..
any help would be wonderful.

Re: Button I.D's?

The SC button is most Certainly a Confederate Cuff button--and a nice one too!

The floral button is probably 1830s. All of the other three besides the SC are civilian.

your buttons are most impressive! congrats! and those containers, stack packs with felt liners? good thinking! But where did you get the bubble tops? I have a pat. pending in limbo myself similar to that where I take the stack pacs and put magnetic liners in them for trout fishing. The tiny hooks never fall out now! cheers

I suspected when you first posted you didn't realize the SC was as good a find as it is.

Re: Button I.D's?

The missing part of the word on your flat button from London is likely Quality, which would have "Best" or "Standard", "Superior" or "Extra" (or similar description) before it.

The South Carolina button is great!!!

Thanks for the kudos, I purchased the containers at a civil war show in Charelston S.C a few weeks back. They come in black or white. As far of the name of the vendor I do not know right now but on Tuesday February 3rd I will be at our club meeting and ask some other members who purchased them.

Always on Ebay.

Search "button display case" and you'll see some store listings. There's more if you look for them.

Hey Iron patch, actually I knew I had a good button but compared to the North Carolinas state seal button and the 1789 Pillar dollar pulled not 40 feet from it I was not going to get to excited untill I knew anything about it. Ironically I had found 3 S.C palmetto buttons in an attic. Check these out

Awesome! I look forward to seeing it. :)

Someone with the book "Dating Buttons" might be able to provide more help on the button backmark. It is not listed in any references I currently own.
