button I.D. HELP

this is a two piece button the back being steel or iron( very rusty) its very small about 13mm cuff size . i was thinking maybe WW1 navy era only because the coins in the same area were 1880's to early 1900's . can anyone confirm this , i'd really appreciate it ,Dan

Although there are some early one-piece naval buttons of similar design, the two-piece ones tend to be blazer/fashion buttons. These are typically gilt, with iron or steel backs (often, as Nick notes, badly rusted or missing on dug examples).
