i found this in my yard cant see what's on the back army? year?

Army general service button, still in use, one of the button guys can tell you the date they were first made but I seem to remember it being from somewhere after WW1 until the present.

the common name is "the great seal" button -- from 1902 on wards

If you can somehow read the manufacturer on the back, you may be able to narrow the date a little.
