So I was looking over some buttons I found at my usual property and most have been either early 1800s (1812) to mid 1800s (Civil War). I came across this button that was crusty. I decided to clean it and it has a backmark I cannot seem to identify. It has what looks like "Double Gilt" with an eagle facing right above the lettering. I saw some earlier posts about eagle backmark but none with Double Gilt. I have been on a button spree with the Nox lately and have been really into them. Maybe because the last time it was touched it was on someone's coat a long time ago. Either military or civilian, it makes it a little more personable I guess. Any ideas on this one?

Probably civilian considering there's nothing on the front. I've found hundreds of plain buttons with different quality designations on the back (i.e. treble gilt, double gilt, extra rich gilt, orange color, etc etc.) I imagine the eagle indicates that it was American made, most likely 1820-1840s(ish), post War of 1812.
