Back is toast.
I've seen this in one of the books but can't find now.

Based on the design I would guess 1700's. Earlier rather than later.


Even if the back is toast, a pic of it might help us narrow down the date range. General location and other finds near-by often help as well. More information = better ID.

Yes it is. The next pic is also. It's Federal Navy from same time.
Trying to figure out the one from the top of the thread. I've seen it but can't find it.

Ill do some searching, but I seem to remember someone calling them snow flake buttons or something like that.
