Button Help!

Hello all,
I have just recently gotten into relic hunting and I have found two WWI buttons. I would like to know the best way to clean them that causes the least amount of damage. They were both found in the same area no more than 50 yards apart but they are from two different manufacturers. Any help would be great.

Rub a little bit of olive oil on them to help bring out the details.

[Metal Detecting Stuff]

If you want to get more aggressive and they aren't valuable, use aluminum jelly from Ace Hardware, or try toilet bowl cleaner. Don't leave it on for more than a few minutes at a time, and use some baking soda and water after cleaning to neutralize the solution. Use at your own risk!
