Found this button on my ATV trails. Was in the general vicinity that I found some interesting relics. I am narrowing down where the good finds are in this area. Anyway this button is preety small, seems like a cuff button since it is smaller than a dime. The shank was so brittle that it broke unfortunately. I cannot see any words on the back but it looks like the front has some sort of pattern on it. It looks like this:

|
__ __

/ \

I know this is a rough drawing of the pattern but that is what I see. There also seems to be circular depressions (dots) in the center of this pattern, maybe around 5 or 6 of them. Not sure if they are just dented from gravel or pebbles in the dirt or not. The button looks like it was a two piece manufacture since it is hollow (the top was attached to the bottom). Any ideas based on that pattern.

Thanks for looking and your help.....c'mon PBK, do that voodoo that you do!

Looks like a Golden Age gilt cuff button— two-piece, so probably c. 1835-55. A lot of them have symmerical geometric or floral designs.

thanks for the paintjob mechtech. Will look closely at the button to see how close you are. It could very well be that the design that I saw with the 5 hash marks and the dots could be the center of a flower where the pollen is (forgot what that is called, I want to say soemthing like stylus which I know is not the word).
