I suspect it's a post CW, S.C. military school, but I can't find anything on it. Hopefully you folks can ID this one for me.

It's a 15mm button and the backmark is:

Wm. C. ROWLAND * PHILA. PA *

Thanks!...... I had seen that post, but I'm not convinced it's Florida Military Academy. That button has an eagle in the middle. This one has the Palmetto Tree and crossed arrows like a SC button. Maybe Florida Military Academy "borrowed" that from SC? :dontknow:

And those ARE some great pictures!

You found a cuff-size version of Porter Military Academy's uniform-buttons. Listed in the Albert button-book as SU308. A military school in Charleston SC, founded in 1867. Being considerably smaller than the coat-size, the cuff-size button doesn't have the school's name fully spelled out (using just the PMA initials instead).

Your cuff-button's backmark (Wm. C. Rowland / Phila. PA) indicates it was manufactured sometime between 1909 and 1935, the dates when that company was in business.

Thank you Cannonballguy! I am about blind anymore. I was seeing "FMA". So I went and got my glasses and doggone if that ain't a "P"! (Bigger than day!!) I guess it's time to get back to the eye doctor!

You're welcome. :)

I myself sometimes have to use the "Enlarge" option in my web-browser to see the often-very-important smaller details in an image.

The key in figuring out your button's ID was your thoughtful inclusion of its precisely-measured size. Without your mention of 15mm, I'd have had more trouble riddling out your button's somewhat-different face from what is shown in my various button-reference books. Unfortunately, in most cases they do not show the faces of cuff-size versions of larger buttons. As I mentioned in my previous post, cuff-size versions often omit "less-important" details of the larger design, in order to save space on the cuff's face.

That is also true about button-backsmarks ...many have a significantly shortened version of the business's name -- especially, using initials instead of the fully-spelled-out name.
