I'm trying to find out how old a site is that I just got permission to dig. I typically research the land first, but this town is very historical, so stopped by and asked for permission.
What would the age range for this button, if that is what it is, be? The center loop seems to be offset, so maybe its a cufflink. :dontknow:

Afraid you're going to have to clean the back. If there is something there, it will be easier. If nothing there, we need some of the shank.

Show us what you get.

The button is about 1810 or so. In the back, that type of button will usually have a wreath with PLATED at the top. The plated meant they were silver plated

Now all you have to do is find the wreath and any wording that's there. Try a diet coke soak or simmer.
