Button Help Please!!

Hello everyone!

It's been a long time since I last posted on T-Net...

I've been out diggin' holes

Well here is something I dug today, sorry for the crappy cell phone pics, but my digi is busted

Can anyone help identify this button for me

In the less then perfect pics you should be able to make out the eagle grasping an anchor.

I guess this is what you would call a two piece button.

It's domed.

Kinda small with stars running the circumference of the face.

It actually is in awesome shape although the pics don't show that off all that well...

Any help is appreciated!!!

Looks like the botton off a naval hat. Dress style. Someone will post an example.

I forgot to mention that it also has three cannonballs piled up under the anchor.

I think you're right on!

I believe it might even be brass, it rang up with a high VDI on my MXT...

Pretty deep too, about six inches.

Very good point... I missed that!

I guess we're still on the hunt for a solid indentification.

By the looks of things it is definitely a US Navy biutton.

Maybe a different era then WWII

Been doing a little diggin' myself...

Looks like we may be older then WWII!

The design is a lot like the one found on this Civil War Era belt plate...

Although the button has the cannon balls and the stars all the way around.

Well I found some more pics online that closely resemble my button.

The problem is that the pics are not accompanied with a discription, doh!!!
