Button help needed

Hello

My dad has been out detecting an old house and found some buttons. One of the buttons is a large dandy button. The other button is a general service military button. It is post 1902 I am trying to find out about the backmark. I think it says new york city union works. I can clearly read City Union Works and what looks like york. Any help is appreciated. Pics to follow
