Please post a picture of the back even if it is corroded. And, put something in the picture, like a coin, for a size comparison. Also, if the back is good, is there any wording on it?

Sorry only thing I had close for size comparison . There is no writing on it that I can see

My understanding is that this type of self-shank backed button was patented in the 1920's.

I think it is a modern fashion button. Hopefully, someone more knowledgeable will chime in and correct me if I am wrong.

Ok .. kind of strange it was 4 miles off a modern road in a colonial cellar hole but then again we also dug a 1950 british half penny in the same spot . But that's why we do this cause you never know what your gonna find
