Must be my eyes playing with your button.
Sure looks like a right facing profile. One that has a big snozz.

Looks like a cartoon dog to me!
 

Neat finds and great for you to get out. The broken button looks like a tombac greatcoat button and the small is one from the same era, somewhere around 1800 I expect. The bent brass item looks like pat of the chape of a buckle, perhaps a shoe buckle, from the same approximate era. I suggest doing more detecting in that area!
 

Nice hunt! Like pepperj I see something on the face of the button. Try side lighting it with a flashlight, or better yet the sun, to see if you can make out anything on the button face.

I will be, once the snow melts. There was another target in the same hole as the chape was, I'm hoping that its part of the buckle.
