Ok I am still digging those odd beeps and now I found this at a site that is near an old civil war era tavern. I have found old musketballs in this area, and I found this approx 10 inches down. It is a soft metal and has a hook on the back. I have never seen a button like this but I am not a button expert either. Anyone have any ideas? Thanks.

I dig all Tesoro iffy signals, they are my fav. Most of my good signals are junk.

Looks like a mid-Victorian guilded button.

Thanks I gotta head to Barnes and Noble soon maybe I can find a book on buttons. You have any suggestions on a good book on victorian buttons.....or a good book on buttons in general? ???

It's sporting a "metal loop shank", prolly an early 20 century button.

Me thinks too common to narrow down...

Thanks! I know nothing about buttons. I think that is an indicator that I need to educate myself on buttons. I would not be able to tell you what a metal loop shank would mean in relation to a time period. I do appreciate the help. Do you have any good sources to recommend?
