button dating?

I found this button today at and 1800s house. One piece buttons are old?

Not all 1-piece metal buttons are "old" - many are still being made today for "Fashion" clothing use. But the modern shape and manufacturing-methods are different from the truly old ones. Your civilian-usage button is from the late-1700s through early-1800s.
