button backmark

Two days ago while detecting in a field I came across
a flat button with a backmark I have not seen before
and can not find anything about and any help will be
greatly appreciated. L.S. & SPERRY says Extra on the
bottom of the back.

The McGuinn-&-Bazelon book on button backmarks says the "L.S. & Sperry" in your button's backmark is Leavenworth, Spencer, & Sperry, of Waterbury CT, a button-making firm which was only in business from 1835 to 1839.
