I "think" your 1-piece cast brass button's backmark says "B&B ... Extra ... "

In this case, B&B would most likely be the button-making firm of Benedict & Burnham in Waterbury CT, doing business under that name from 1834-43. In 1849 it became the Waterbury Button Company.
