button and saddle buckle? Need Help? Revolutionary?

Hey guys,

I found these a few years back in a yard that had some CW finds (in East Tennessee) and I had a few people think it was a saddle shield, but not from the CW but the Revolutionary war? What do you think?


Also found the little button with what looks to be an Eagle head on it, but this was from another site. Any ideas?

The back is pretty much gone, but I rotated it so you could make out the eagle head a little better.

Seems most do believe the shield does date to the Rev War era, but no direct connection to the war.
