Button and Relic

Hey, guys, I decided to do some detecting at the productive small park(est. in 1913). I spent about an hour there and managed some nice finds. My 1st find read a 32 VDI and pinpointed at 2.5". I dug a hole and out came this button. Is anyone familiar with this design or what it may be? It definitely is a unique button. My 2nd find was jumping between 34-50 VDI and pinpointed at 3.5". I was suprised to find this old skeleton key pad (probably pre-1900). I was told by a resident of the community that a marble mansion used to stand on the park's property. This relic probably was related to that mansion.

HH!

Hey, Doyboy... that's a neat keyhole escutcheon plate. You might be able to ID the maker and date by comparing it to others in the galleries links at Web Wilson's website, or by e-mailing him:

That is a real nice key hole plate,I have founs A few of them here in Germany but none that nice.

A little envious you didn't find it, Zoyboy? Thanks all for the replies. This site keeps on producing some nice finds, so I will keep on hitting it. RP and I are going out tonight for a hunt. He is taking me to one of the homes he got permission to hunt - built in 1870. I'll keep you all posted! HH!

Now, then, where were we? Oh, right.

Go ahead and keep the button, and just send me the plate postpaid. :D

Dadgummit!

Well, if you won't send it, you won't. I guess I'll just have to be content with my Arkansas state seal plate. ;)

And now, gentlemen, please click here and rise for our national anthem:

Hey, Michelle...
Web Wilson is a great guy, and his site is a must for anyone interested in vintage hardware.
I'd also recommend that you pick up a copy of his book, Antique Hardware Price Guide.
